Families

This section contains resources for children and youth who have experienced trauma as well as their parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, grandparents, and caregivers who play a key role in helping them. The more adults learn about how traumatic events affect children, the more they understand the behaviors they exhibit and their emotions, and the better prepared they are to help them cope. When children know that caring adults are working to protect them and help them understand their traumatic reactions, most children can recover and continue to live healthy and productive lives (National Child Traumatic Stress Network, 2021).
