Ben Hoogenboom
CPRI
Ben Hoogenboom is a Data Planning Analyst in the Education and Learning Services department at the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI), which is part of the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Ben began his career in 2014 as a Child and Youth Advocate, providing direct-care services within CPRI’s intensive inpatient program to children, youth, and families who are living with complex mental health and developmental concerns. A certified trainer for Cornell University’s Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) de-escalation and behaviour support program since 2015, Ben has also been a facilitator of the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Mental Health First Aid course since 2017. Additionally, Ben is part-time faculty member at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, where he teaches in the Child and Youth Care Program. Committed to supporting the creation of work spaces that are experienced as being safe by everyone who may be impacted by them, Ben has facilitated countless presentations on trauma-informed approaches both within and outside of the Ontario Public Service (OPS) in hopes of sharing what he has learned about facilitating meaningful and sustainable change.
