Catherine Laurier, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychoeducation and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université de Sherbrooke. She has been researching the field of troubled youth for more than 15 years, specializing in mental health and risk-taking among young offenders. Her research focuses on both the complex trauma experienced by young offenders and the potentially traumatic events that can result from delinquent lifestyles (contemporary traumatic events with delinquency) that affect the psychological adjustment and rehabilitation potential of these young people. Her most recent work also aims to better understand what promotes resiliency in these troubled youths.
