Katherine Maurer, PhD, LMSW, is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work and an Associate Member of the Department of Pediatrics, Divisions of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. She obtained a PhD in Clinical Social Work at New York University Silver School of Social Work. Dr. Maurer practiced in New York City as a trauma therapist and clinical social worker with marginalised populations. Her current research projects explore the experiences of current/formerly homeless women, veterans, and Indigenous adults, and male and female perpetrators of intimate partner violence. In addition, her interests focus on the affect regulation capacities of youth exposed to family violence, and an app to enhance youth resilience. An ethics-based commitment to promote anti-racism, decolonization, and critical thought is at the centre of Dr. Maurer's scholarship and practice.
